Hi, I'm Leo.

I grew up in New Orleans, soaking in the energy of the city, before moving with my family to Columbus, Ohio. My very first instrument was alto saxophone, which I dove into with endless curiosity. My recording journey started with a borrowed copy of Sony Acid Pro and Cool Edit, where I cobbled together my first recordings for myself and college friends. I quickly became addicted to the process of recording, layering, editing and collaging sounds. At the same time, I was learning how to play guitar, write songs and sing, skills that I knew would be useful later on.

After graduating college and forming Spanish Prisoners, a solo project masquerading as a band, I moved to New York City, where I dove into the world of audio even more deeply. Eventually I started working as a live sound engineer at Cameo Gallery, a busy and now-defunct Brooklyn venue that hosted up and coming bands every night of the week. I learned how to mix bands quickly and efficiently, as well as learning all about signal flow, microphone technique and live setup. I eventually became the Audio Video Tech at the Brooklyn Historical Society, where I ran sound for a variety of events and recorded everything as well.

At the same time, I was developing as a recording engineer by constantly working on new ideas in my home studio. I've spent countless, countless hours experimenting with plugins, trying out new microphones, testing out the latest drum machines and electronic gear. Much of this work was under the guise of writing, but I was also doing it to tune my ears and develop my own sense of taste. Much of being a producer is simply knowing what you like and think sounds good and believing firmly in those opinions (just look at Rick Rubin).

I'm genuinely excited for every new project that comes my way because it's a sign of trust—that you are trusting me with your heart and soul. As I'm sure you are aware, music isn't a science—it's an artform. My only goal is to make sure your art is represented in the best possible way, the way that feels most authentic to you. That is what excites me about the future and about working with other artists. If we can get people to feel what we are feeling in the studio, our work is done. My rates are artist-friendly, so please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

I look forward to hearing from you!
